With approximately 70,000 new cases of Covid daily in the U.S, is it safe and responsible for Canadian student-athletes to return to their studies and competitions this fall?

The only people who can truly answer that question, are those students attending institutions in the US. I suspect many have, and will return back to school.

Only if you want to get covid-19...jks But in all seriousness it isn’t an easy decision, I think I would look at the local risk and outbreak levels where the school is located

I've talked to a few NCAA athletes and both of them are returning to their schools, even with the majority of their school work online. I think coaches and athletes still want to be able to train and have access to their facilities.
- Both of these athletes did return home in Mid-March when COVID-19 started and borders closed.
I believe the NCAA delayed their announcement on Fall sports untill next week, so it will be interested to see what comes from that.

I think a lot of it depends on the location of the school, on the runner's comfort levels with COVID, and on what facilities are open at the school. I don't think one can make an all-encompassing decision for all athletes.
