London’s own Phil Parrot-Migas drops a 2:19:05 solo time trial marathon in the middle of July.
Impressive performance given the heat/humidity. He had bike support for nutrition.
Would be great to see him continue to add depth to the marathon field in Canada

That's really impressive! A lot of solid time trials in the Canadian distance running scene over the last couple months. Phil keeps improving over every distance. Also really cool to see him and Rory both follow a plant based life style and still get the proper nutrition to perform at their level. Shows you that its 100% achievable. Many more athletes are following their foot steps and seeing huge benefits from the power of plants. Looking forward to seeing the growth of the Canadian Marathon scene.

If you haven’t seen the Netflix documentary Game Changers... it certainly makes a compelling case for athletes.

I have no issues with people choosing to live a vegan lifestyle but Game Changers is not the a documentary that I would follow for science based information. The article linked shows the documentary's many flaws.

Hey! Thanks for the post. That was a fun experience and really looking forward to doing a marathon in an actual race with other runners. Fingers crossed in-person events start up again in the near future. As for the doc. Game Changers, I 100% agree with everything that is said in the doc. Maybe the science based info is not quite the best, but it's a really good movie to watch if you do not know much about the topic. I was vegetarian for 4 years and now vegan for 1.5 years. I can back up and say that the benefits from going plant based are real and that if you are an athlete you will and can still get the proper nutrition via plants. Some of the best athletes in the world are plant based. Here are some benefits after switching to a plant based diet: - Feel much healthier - More energy - Clearer mind - Positive impact on the environment - Giving animals the right to live If you havent yet, checkout this Shakeout podcast I was on: runningmagazine.ca/shakeout-podcast/the-shakeout-podcast-phil-parrot-migas-on-being-a-vegan-elite-runner/Also reach out my way if you have any questions on how to balance a proper plant based diet. Thanks, Phil
